Paddle Logger x Save the Waves
Save the Waves is an organisation that works in coalition with diverse organizations around the world with a common aim to protecting surf ecosystems.
We are paddlers, waterways and our oceans are where we play. It is our responsibility to both reduce our impact on these spaces, as well as look to improve these spaces for future generations. Every time you finish a paddle using Paddle Logger you will now have the ability to log environmental threats via the Save the Waves App.
The North Channel: more than a paddle
Samantha Rutt became the first woman to cross the North Channel, a notorious stretch of water from Northern Ireland to Scotland, where the waters from two oceans merge to create unique conditions to paddle and navigate – Sam did it in style, with a new (unofficial) Guinness World Record of 5 hrs and 3 minutes – in this candid interview with PL Crew Sarah Thornely, she talks about what makes her tick on the water and off:

My Experience at the ICF 2021 SUP World Championships in Hungary
When I decided I wanted to go to the ICF 2021 SUP World Championships, I didn’t anticipate still being in the midst of a global pandemic. Travelling in the current climate isn't easy, but flying with a very fragile 14' race board to a country where you're supposed to quarantine for ten days upon entry and then find your way to a town two hours from the airport felt almost impossible. Despite that, one of my goals this year was to race internationally and I was determined to make it happen. I travelled with Blue Ewer who was also competing for Team GB, and my boyfriend Jaime as support crew. After nearly more hiccups than my stress levels could cope with en route, we eventually made it to Balatonfüred in Hungary.
Paddle Logger Proudly Supports the Ocean8Challenge
The ocean is what keeps the planet alive. It regulates the climate, absorbs CO2 and is a source of livelihood and nutrition for billions of people. But did you know that 8 million pieces of plastic make their way into the ocean every day? To put that into perspective, that equates to one garbage truck full of plastic being emptied into the ocean every single minute, and only 1% of it floats - the rest sinks to the bottom of the sea. On UK beaches alone, there are approximately 5000 pieces of plastic and 150 plastic bottles to be found per square mile.
Black Project x Paddle Logger Collaboration
Personally I have been using Black Project Fins and Paddles for SUP for the past couple of years now and highly rate the equipment and innovation that Chris is putting out. Whenever we are testing Paddle Logger we always ensure that before updates are released a certain amount of on water testing is done. Putting the app through its paces in the real world. More often than not it means me heading out for a few hours in varying conditions checking everything is working as we expect and ensuring that what we have theorised is easy to use and makes sense for the paddler. Naturally the use of Black Project equipment has become a part of that testing process.
Challenge Yourself!
While none of us ever really need an excuse to get out on the water, there’s nothing like a challenge to up the motivation levels, and help us improve as individual paddlers. In partnership with Paddle Monster, we have three active challenges at the moment that you can get involved in to start upping your game today.
