2024: On the Water

We paddled the length of the Amazon 250 times over!

What an epic year on the water! 2024 has brought awesome collaborations, new podcast episodes amazing new features and of course some fantastic paddling! What a way to celebrate 10 years on the water! As always paddlers can now access their annual data round up which this year includes goals achieved and reference to where across the year you were on the water most! Make sure you head to Year on the Water and share your stats with the community!

Speaking of community - collectively you all paddled over 1 million kilometres this year in a mere 225,000 hours!! Or to put that another way, it is like paddling the length of the Amazon River 250 times and it taking an individual 25 years without sleep!! Whether you have put in a lot of water time, or just managed to get out a bit when the weather has been nice every stroke counts towards these amazing totals. If you were wondering the most average session was 4.5 kilometres and lasted for 55 minutes. This pace reflects a steady, enjoyable paddle, balancing fitness and the sheer joy of being out on the water.

If you live in the USA, UK, Australia, Canada or Germany. Your paddling helped break into the top 5 countries. With the most popular paddling spots being California, Florida and Hawai’i. Digging into some of the sessions, 18.5% of sessions were over 2 hours, with some serious adventures happening in this bracket! As a brand that loves to see people finding out where paddling can take them, it is great to see over half of sessions globally were over 5km and the top 16% of all sessions broke the 10km mark.

Our challenge to you is to see if you can paddle further and for longer next year.

It is not only about the raw numbers though. Paddling is a super diverse sector and for me I love seeing how in the last 10 years we have grown tommore than a SUP brand. Our top 5 Crafts are StandUp Paddleboards, Kayaks, Outrigger Canoes, Dragon Boats and SurfSkis. With many many more in the list including Pack Rafts, Canadian Canoes and SUP Foils!

2 years ago we started a new Podcast - Rise and Glide hosted by Holly and Maddi, initially we weren’t too sure what to expect from our audience. But in that short time we have 142% more followers, 82% new listeners and are being heard in over 30 different countries. We know we can reach more too - so as we start to record our third season due out in 2025, make sure you have checked out the back catalogue which includes interviews with some legends of our sports. Please do share with your friends and help grow the show!

Finally our biggest personal achievemtn was the introduxtion of PaddlePLAN® we have spent the best part of a year developing this product, launchign in September as part of Apple’s Keynote Event!! We want more paddlers to discover new places to paddle, so as well as being good practice to create and share a PaddlePLAN® with someone before you head out on the water. We want to encourage the discovery of routes within the community as well. We have a web version of this in Beta which means anyone will be able to discover new places to paddle before getting the route and following it in Paddle Logger!

It has been one hec of a year - thank you so much for joining us on the water we will be at a number of events in 2025 so when we say we hope to see you on the water, come find us at some of them and let’s go for a paddle!
