Welcome back to the UK Virtual TT 2021!!

In short:

The UK Virtual TT 2021 is a series designed to keep paddlers paddling! Aiming for incremental performance gains over a regular time period.

The event cycle will consist of 3 weeks of training culminating in an event entry week.

Why?

We want you to keep paddling, putting in the training and have a regular goal to motivate you. The UK Virtual TT is designed to do just that, enabling you to become a better and improved paddler through incremental gains.

Our tag is #nextstopresults and we want to inspire you to continue your progression and have a way to measure your success.

How much?

Entry is free of charge, all you have to do is follow the event rules on our website, complete and submit your time within each events window.

How Far?

The UK Virtual TT has two options in a 5km or 10km distance. You can choose which distance you want to complete for each event in the series, or for those looking for an extra challenge, you are also welcome to complete both distances for the same event.

Take the challenge and become a #UKVirtualTTfinisher.

Event Rules

  • Be Safe - It's yourself against the clock but please wear an appropriate leash and make sure someone knows you're out on the water. We recommend using the PaddleLIVE® feature within Paddle Logger, so friends and family know you are safe and can track your progress - details here.

  • Be Fair - You can paddle on rivers, lakes, canals or the sea, remember to be fair to others however with the conditions you choose. We ask you to not use the tides, river flow or wind to your advantage and be honest with your times.

  • Own Risk - Remember you are taking part at your own risk - paddle in conditions that are safe you feel comfortable in. Follow the appropriate guidelines for your area and water and make sure someone knows you are on the water.

  • Start & Finish - To make it as fair as possible, you must start and finish in the same spot.

  • Standing Start - You must start from a standstill on all your attempts, no rolling starts.

  • No Drafting - This is an individual Time Trial - do paddle it with friends but no drafting each other or boat wash to gain an advantage.

  • Upload Results - Submit your best time on the haywoodsports.com website before the event closes on the submission page here. Times outside of the event window will not be counted - you must also complete your Time Trial within the dates of the event.

A note on the Pandemic

How does the event work during COVID restrictions?

Like everyone we are acutely aware of the challenges the pandemic has brought on, and it is everyone's responsibility to ensure we as a community are not making the situation worse before it gets better.

Therefore please only participate if you are able to do so safely, following the latest guidelines issued by the Government where you are. This includes staying local and avoiding travel to participate outside of your local area.

We will be monitoring the guidelines on water access from British Canoeing and the Environment Agency but please also check your access points and water for local restrictions.

Finally please ensure someone knows you are on the water and how long you are expected to be.
